The Steam Engine that my 3D model "The Baldwin #300" was based upon was involved in an accident this past July. It happened when the #300 with a full load passenger was at rest on a sidetrack to allow the oncoming passenger train to pass. As the last car was clearing the switch, the very last set of trucks picked the switchtrack, jumped over and began to travel along the sidetrack, slamming into the historic engine, and derailing the final cars. Thankfully no one was injured and repairs to the engine are already under way, but amazingly enough a passengers on the train that was struck captured the whole event on film posted the video on YouTube. Though not a spectacular or shocking collision, the rarity of these kind of accidents makes this video very unique. Click Here to view. If you watch closely, you can see the final car as it starts to drift before the collision.
