Project Description
This video served as the introduction to a computer-based training module focused on “Wing Walking.” The term often causes confusion, as many associate it with daring acrobatic stunts from early aviation history—people standing on the wings of biplanes in mid-flight. The reality, however, is far more grounded.
In FBO operations, wing walking refers to the critical task of escorting an aircraft while it's under tow. The purpose is to help ensure the safety of the aircraft, nearby personnel, and surrounding property. It’s important to remember that while aircraft are graceful in the air, they become slow and unwieldy on the ground—making even small errors potentially costly.
Because of the subject’s importance and the potential for misunderstanding, extra care was given to this CBT. The video introduction was designed to capture attention, and the training itself was enriched with motion graphics to clearly illustrate key safety concerns. Although the graphics were originally created in Adobe Flash, I still have the project files and plan to convert portions of the course to HTML Canvas in the future.
In addition to creating the CBT and editing the video, I also provided the narration and handled the videography, which was filmed at Landmark’s Teterboro, NJ location. It was a rare opportunity in which I was granted unescorted access to an active flight line—though I made sure to steer clear of FAA-regulated areas, as I did not hold the proper clearances.
